The Student Teacher Practicum is an opportunity to familiarize one’s self with the materials, philosophy and methodology of Montessori education, and is a very important component of the USA Montessori Elementary Diploma Program.  Of course, each USA Montessori student brings to their program a very unique background consisting of varying levels of expertise and experience.  USA Montessori takes the time to assess each each individual’s skills to customize the practical learning experience necessary to earn a USA Montessori Diploma.

This “Prior Learning Assessment” may accelerate your practicum and put you on the fast-track to the diploma completion that you deserve.  Your mentor will assess your prior learning and experience, and present you with your own unique program requirements for completion of your practicum.

Student Teacher Practicums take place at a school of your choosing and are guided by a USA Montessori online mentor in collaboration with your head teacher or school administrator.  In the event that a student does not have access to a formal school, USA will consider your unique circumstances and attempt to create a fulfilling practical experience nonetheless.  As a minimum, however, you will need to document practical experience with a group consisting of at least five elementary-age children.
